ChilltownTV Cartoon Character Gets Radio Spot
“Lele” New Voice of KRYC Rhythm 105.9fm’s 60 Second Wrap-up

NEW YORK, NY April 10, 2013

Lele, a cartoon character in hip-hop oriented underground hit animated web comedy Chilltown and the star of her own ChilltownTV spin-off web series, Lele’s Ratchet Advice Show, has been tapped to do the 60 Second Wrap-Up, Thursdays at 4pm PST on Yuba City, California hip-hop radio station KRYC Rhythm 105.9fm starting April 11, 2013. This might be the first time a cartoon character has her own radio segment.

Lele, known for her wildly comedic take no prisoners stance towards the worst elements of dating and pop culture in her series, has been gaining heat. She’ll also be gracing the cover of hip-hop magazine HNS later this month. ABCNews/Univision just named Chilltown a “Web Series That Should Be On Your Radar” and Tubefilter called it a “Show to Watch.” The weekly 60 Second Wrap-Up is part of KRYC’s Business Report hosted by Gigi Capone. Lele will tackle gossip and entertainment news in her own unique comedy style, all in 60 seconds.

Both Chilltown, which stars Chappelle’s Show alums Wil Sylvince and Dante Nero, and Lele’s Ratchet Advice Show are the brainchild of writer/self-taught animator Leesa Dean. Dean writes and animates both series for the ChilltownTV YouTube channel. She also voices Lele. “Gigi is a Chilltown fan and we’ve been twitter friends,” Dean said. “When she asked if Lele would do the 60 Second Wrap-Up, I jumped at the chance. I already listen to Gigi’s show and love it. This is gonna be a lot of fun!” Dean will write and voice the weekly segments which will air on dial and stream online at http://www.rhythm1059fm.com.

    THE END

  • I often run across indie artist and veteran artists alike who do not know what an EPK is or what it is for. Simply put, an Electronic Press Kit better known as an “EPK” is one of the most important tools that you will ever need to shop your music to media and the industry. The contents of a EPK varies from artist to artist but there are some very important core basics that always need to be included; no matter level of the game you’re on in the music business.

Who might ask to see my EPK?

    • Record Labels
    • Members of the press
    • Distribution companies
    • Taste-makers
    • Consultants
    • A&R
    • DJ’s and more!

Below you will find 4 of the most important of a variety of elements that make up an EPK.

    1. A Biography – This is the real life story of you and how you became involved in music, What inspires you, what you have accomplished so far, where you are currently with your music and finally where you plan to take your music in the future and how you plan to do it. Here’s the catch; a bio should be no longer that ONE page.
    2. A Discography – A detailed listing of every properly copy-written or in some indie cases “promotional song or remix” you have released. Make sure you start from newest to oldest so that the first thing the reader sees is your current material.
    3. Press Pictures – One of the most important things that I like to stress to artists about pictures and the press is, ALL pictures must be HIGH RESOLUTION pictures. For example 1280 x 1024 300 dpi is considered a high res picture. The graphic designer doing the visuals for your EPK is sure to have a fit if your press pictures aren’t high res as well; the higher the quality the better the design is the general rule of thumb.
    4. A Link list- a list of all your social networks, websites and video links so that the person receiving your EPK can easily find all of your online data.

I can not stress enough how your visual presentation is just as important as your audio package and should be shown the proper attention by a professional; you never know who may see your EPK and you want it to be right. I also recommend having printed copies on hand, some labels still do it the old fashioned way and don’t accept email solicitations. Some labels may also require you to mail them a physical copy along with a demo CD.

When it comes to your EPK you have to ask yourself “What makes my EPK stand out among the sea of EPK’s industry professionals see every single day?”. That question alone makes all the difference in the world and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

  • The whole world is familiar with multi-platinum selling artist Wyclef Jean of the Fugees; but there are still a lot of people ind the United States getting familiar with his internationally famous sound system” Wyclef Refugee All-Stars”, also known as “WRAS”.  Top Selecta Sean Madhouse was handpicked by Wyclef Jean and his talented brother Sedeck in 2003 to head Refugee All-Star sound during one of Clef’s famous birthday parties. In 2006 DJ Khadaffy Selecta/DJ/MC came aboard; then in 2010 DJ Supa Reem proved to be excellent addition to WRAS also. Rob Schwartz was appointed lead PR point person for Wyclef & WRAS celebration during the evenings festivities and did an amazing job. Our good friend Rob, also the CEO of Who?mag TV managed to capture a glimpse of Wyclef and his Refugee All-Stars  vibe directly from the source’s mouth at a party that will be talked about all year long. Be sure to check out the panoramic interview. I can’t wait to see the full multi-part interview airing on my TV set! Please get to know  about Wyclef Refugee All-Star Sound Official Sponsor Who?Mag TV.
